THE PROTESTANT ASSOCIATION OF SOUTH AFRICA -
WHAT IT IS AND HOW IT FUNCTIONS

1.

The Protestant Association of South Africa, an association of individual Protestants as distinct from Protestant Churches, is essentially a religious, missionary body.

The missionary objective of the Association is to declare the Gospel of Christ with special emphasis upon the distinctive doctrines and principles contained in the teaching of the Protestant Reformers. Summed up these are:

Grace Alone. Our salvation is due entirely to the grace and mercy of God - without the assistance of human merit.
Christ Alone. Our Lord Jesus Christ is our only saviour and the sole mediator between God and Man.
Faith Alone. Our salvation is the gift of God which we receive when we sincerely place our trust in Christ.
Scripture Alone. Our only authority in matters of faith and practice is Holy Scripture.

The Executive Secretary of the Association may be contacted at P.O. Box 2976 Cape Town 8000; Tel: 021 685 7445.

2.

Protestant Reveille is our newsletter. It contains articles on the history of Protestantism. It comments on contemporary issues from our evangelical protestant perspective. As the name 'Reveille' suggests, its purpose is to 'awaken' a deeper interest in our Protestant faith and heritage. Click on 'Protestant Reveille' for a sample article and full contact details.

3.

The Protestant Book Centre plays a key role in fulfilling the ministry and mission of the Association. It makes available to the public at most reasonable prices, a wide range of bibles, including versions in eighteen foreign languages, as well as those recognized as official languages in South Africa. In addition, it stocks a comprehensive range of reference works and general theological material, as well as many books dealing with practical Christianity.

Our declared policy is to hold adequate stocks of all titles to avoid delays in fulfilling orders. Many titles can be readily supplied in quantity to colleges and libraries.

Retail Division:
We invite you to visit one of our three retail branches:

Mowbray:
The Protestant Book Centre, 61-65 Main Road: 021 685 3015/7445. This is our main shop.

Somerset West: The Good News Bookshop, 2b Oak Street: 021 851 1905

Cape Town: The Protestant Book Centre, Shop 68, Golden Acre, Adderley Street: 021 421 7268 This branch has been a Christian witness in the very heart of Cape Town, for almost 60 years.

Thousands pass our shops each day - they are where the action is - well-situated to reach the man in the street as well as the Christian from the pew! And they do: for instance, we sell many thousands of Bible Society-subsidised bibles in the course of a year.

The missionary objective of the Protestant Book Centre is expressed in the selection of its range. Our policy is to stock titles which may be slow moving from the commercial stand-point, but which are deemed essential to the fulfilment of our Christian mission.

4.

Wholesale Division: The Protestant Book Centre also functions as a wholesale distributing agency for a number of publishers of quality Christian books.

Both the Retail and Wholesale divisions of the Protestant Book Centre may be contacted at P.O. Box 13068, Mowbray, 7705; 021 685 3015/7445
